Walter Emery

Walter Emery (born June 14, 1909 in Tilshead , † June 24, 1974 in Salisbury ) was a British organist and musicologist .

Biographical

Walter Emery studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. From 1931 to 1939 he worked as organist and choirmaster at the Church of St Giles-without-Cripplegate (London). From 1937 he was a consultant at the Novello and Co publishing house . active. He published works of older music (mainly for organ). He gave the series Early organ music in Novello Publishing out. Above all, he published writings on the organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach . Emery wrote several choral compositions.
