Walter Nicolás Gaitán Sayavedra (born March 13, 1977 in La Rioja ) is an Argentine football player who is used in attacking midfield or in attack .

Life

Gaitán began his professional career at Rosario Central and in 1998 made the "leap across the Atlantic " to the Spanish first division club Villarreal , where he was under contract until the end of 2000. In early 2001 he returned to his homeland and played for the Boca Juniors , with whom he won the Copa Libertadores in June 2001 .

In the summer of 2002 he moved to Mexico , where he was initially under contract with the Tigres de la UANL until the end of 2007 and was the top scorer of the Mexican professional league with eleven goals in the Torneo Apertura in 2005 - tied with three other players . He then played for Necaxa and then the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz before moving to Los Angeles Blues SC in the third US division in early 2011 . He stayed there for only a few months and then returned to his homeland, where he has been under contract with Atlético de Rafaela ever since .
