Walter Harm (politician)

Walter Harm (born May 9, 1897 in Hamburg ; † August 10, 1964 there ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Harm studied law and political science and graduated with a legal traineeship and a degree in economics. After graduating as Dr. rer. pole. In 1930 and the assessor exam he was a court assessor in Hamburg until 1932. From 1934 to 1945 and since 1955 he was admitted to the bar there.

Harm was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to September 22, 1961 and again from the 1961 federal election until his death .

Public offices

Harm was the full-time mayor of Hameln from 1932 to 1934 . In 1945 he became mayor there (until 1946). From 1946 on he was President of the Government (until 1950 in Lüneburg , then in Stade ) before he was appointed State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Finance in 1954. After the change of government in 1955, he was put on hold .
