from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Walter III. Brisebarre († after October 1179 ) was Lord of Beirut , later Lord of Blanchegarde in the Kingdom of Jerusalem .

He was the eldest son of Guido II Brisebarre and his wife Maria. After the death of his father he followed him as Lord of Beirut.

Around 1166 he sold Beirut to King Amalrich I of Jerusalem and instead received the Blanchegarde castle , which had previously belonged to the crown domain and was raised to rule.

In his first marriage he was married to Helena von Milly († before November 18, 1168). Helena was the daughter of Philipp von Milly , Lord of Montreal and Oultrejordain . From their right, he is mentioned in a document in 1168 as Lord of Montreal . After her death, however, the title passed to Helena's younger sister Stephanie von Milly and her future husbands. He had a daughter with Helena:

  • Beatrix.

In his second marriage he married Agnes, daughter of Helvis of Tiberias and granddaughter of Hugo of Saint-Omer , Prince of Galilee. With her he had four daughters and one son, children:

  • Bermonde (also Reimonde, * after November 1168; † after February 1186) ∞ before June 1183 Bertram († after July 1217), Herr von Margat;
  • Gilles († after 1220), Lord of Blanchegarde, ∞ Agnes of Leiron, niece of Aimerich of Lairon , Lord of Caesarea;
  • Margarethe ∞ Wilhelm Porcelet;
  • Eschiva ∞ Joscelin of Gibelet, lord of Avegore;
  • Orable ∞ Estace de Neuvilles.

After his death, his son Gilles followed him as Lord of Blanchegarde.
