Walter Loppacher

Walter Loppacher (* 26. May 1883 in Herisau ; † 23. December 1964 in ibid ; heimatberechtigt in Teufen ) was a Swiss businessman from Canton Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Walter Loppacher was a son of Johannes Loppacher, sticker , and Anna Magdalena Meier. In 1905 he married Amalie Kellenberger, daughter of Jakob Kellenberger, a farmer . He entered into a second marriage in 1917 with Elise Frehner. He worked as a merchant in St. Gallen to 1919. Subsequently, he was a partner of the carpet - and floor covering - trading house Leuch in Herisau. In 1928 he took over this business. He forwarded it to 1952. The Loppacher AG was still in 2006 a leader in the Swiss carpet wholesale trade .

From 1921 to 1926 he served as a community judge. From 1929 to 1932 he held the office of district judge and from 1932 to 1940 that of chief judge. From 1944 to 1964 he was a member of the board of directors of the Säntis suspension railway . He presided over it from 1947 to 1953.
