Walter Ludin OFMCap (born November 23, 1945 in Grosswangen ) is a Swiss Catholic theologian , priest , freelance journalist , editor and book author.

education

Walter Ludin attended high schools in Sursee and Stans . In 1966 he entered the Franciscan order of the Capuchins. Studied theology at the religious college in Solothurn and journalism at the Institute for Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) . In 1971 he was ordained a priest.

activities

Walter Ludin has lived and worked in Lucerne as a freelance journalist and editor since 1977 . From 1979–1981 he was head of the press office for the Action in the Service of Brother / Kovive and Synod 72 in the diocese of Basel. He then attended interdiocesan pastoral forums (1978 in Einsiedeln, 1981 in Lugano ) and from 1979 (almost annually in the 1990s) undertook study trips to Africa, Latin America, Asia and Australia.

He is the editor of the Franciscan and Mission Calendar of the Swiss Capuchins and the final editor of the Luzerner GasseZiitig . Ludin is Vice President of the Association for the Catholic Church in Crete; Member of the Advisory Board of the Diet in the diocese of Basel, and a member of the Zurich pastor sheet of the media advisory board forum . Until 2019 he was also editor of the one-world magazine ite .

Walter Ludin wants in his work u. a. show that the church has unimagined freedom to shape its structures according to the requirements of the time.

As one of the few priests in Switzerland, Walter Ludin has been running a blog since 2005 . In it he continuously publishes brief, mostly provocative comments on current events; short, commented quotations from books or lectures that convey newer theological insights and call for consequences in terms of church politics; Anecdotal, amusing, profound things; concise passages from his sermons. He does not limit himself to ecclesiastical or theological topics.
