Walter Müller (archaeologist, 1877)

Walter August Müller (born July 8, 1877 in Bremen ; † November 16, 1952 there ) was a German classical archaeologist .

Müller studied in Freiburg , Munich and Leipzig and received his doctorate there in 1906 under Franz Studniczka . In 1908/09 he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . During this time he worked on the excavations of Tiryns . In 1911 he became an assistant at the Archaeological Institute of Frankfurt University . From 1913 he worked for the Dresden sculpture collection , from 1927 as curator, from 1934 until his retirement in 1945 he was its director.
