Walter Müller (business economist)

Walter Heinrich Müller (born June 30, 1918 in Winterthur ; † August 29, 2010 in Bern , resident in Winterthur) was a Swiss business economist .

Life

Walter Müller, son of Heinrich Mueller and Bertha born Schlumpf, devoted himself to the Matura studying economics at the Graduate School of St. Gallen , which he in 1943 with the promotion of Dr. rer. pole. graduated from the University of Bern .

Walter Müller began his professional career as a research assistant in the pricing commission chaired by Professor Fritz Marbach , the predecessor of the cartel commission . As a result, he completed his habilitation at the University of Bern, where he was made an extraordinary professorship in public finance in 1954. Two years later, Müller was appointed full professor and head of the new institute for business administration (BWL). He held these positions until his retirement in 1986. In addition, Müller served as dean of the law and economics faculty in the academic years 1958/59 and as rector in 1969/70 .

In addition, from 1958 to 1983, Müller was editor of the series of publications of the Business Administration Institute of the University of Bern, Examining and Deciding, as well as a member of the study committee for price, cost and structural issues of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs . Walter Müller played a key role in expanding business administration at the University of Bern and in realigning Swiss economic policy .

Walter Müller - he married Nelly in 1944, daughter of Alfred Müller - died on August 29, 2010 at the age of 92 in Bern.
