Walter Niederhauser

Walter Niederhauser (born July 2, 1898 in Eriswil , † January 1, 1985 in Zurich , resident in Eriswil) was a Swiss chocolate manufacturer .

Life

Walter Niederhauser was born on July 2, 1898 in Eriswil as the son of Andreas Niederhauser and Elise, born Studer. After Niederhauser had completed an apprenticeship as a pastry chef , he gained several years of professional experience at home and abroad, including four years each in Finland and Sweden and one year in Italy . As a result, Niederhauser attended German technical schools and acquired the German championship title. He then went on study trips to England and France .

In 1931 Niederhauser opened a chocolate factory in Zurich's old town , which was relocated to Zurich's Hardquartier a year later due to lack of space. In 1947, the factory finally moved to Herzogenbuchsee . After primarily semi-finished products were initially produced, the company then also produced finished products under the name "Niederhauser-Schokolade" .

Walter Niederhauser married Josephine Rosa, the daughter of Johann Paul Geser, in 1947. He died on January 1, 1985 at the age of 86 in Zurich.
