Walter Pötzl

Walter Pötzl (born March 23, 1939 in Plan in the Egerland ) was the district home nurse of the Augsburg district from 1984 to 2015 and an associate professor for ethnology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt from 1983 to 2004 . In 1967 he received his doctorate from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a thesis on the early history of the Irsee Monastery. From 1972 to 2008 he was a member of the Augsburg district council. Pötzl is the author and editor of numerous publications, including many on the history of the Augsburg district and its customs. Since 1988 he has been a member of the Swabian Research Association .

For his services he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit and the Bavarian Order of Merit .
