Walter Poesse

Walter Poesse (born July 21, 1913 in Cleveland , † July 18, 2001 in Bloomington (Indiana) ) was an American Romanist , Hispanic and Lusitanist .

Walter Poesse studied at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and Washington University in St. Louis . There he completed his master's thesis A study in the syntax of Lazarillo de Tormes . He received his doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley with the work The internal line-structure of thirty autograph plays of Lope de Vega (Bloomington 1949, New York 1973) and taught from 1941 to 1942, from 1946 to 1950 and from 1952 to 1975 ( interrupted by military service) at Indiana University Bloomington .
