Walter Russell (born May 19, 1871 in Boston , Massachusetts , † May 19, 1963 ) was an American painter, sculptor, architect, philosopher and mystic.

biography

Walter Russell was born in Boston in 1871 to a simple family and had to leave school at the age of nine in order to earn a living. Self-taught, he developed an artistic training and caused a sensation in the USA, initially as a painter and from 1928 also as a sculptor, who portrayed numerous celebrities including US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt . The unusual thing about Walter Russell is the versatility of his extensive work. He designed numerous buildings, especially in New York, introduced figure skating in the USA, was the first to develop an owner cooperative for apartments, gave lectures on business ethics for IBM employees for many years and wrote numerous philosophical books.

A so-called enlightenment experience, which he had as a successful artist in 1921 at the age of 49, had a decisive influence on him. Subsequently, he presented a complete cosmogony (doctrine of the structure of the universe), described several chemical elements as the first and turned his findings to the scientific world, which ignored the outsider with a few exceptions ( Nikola Tesla ).

In 1950, together with his second wife Lao Russell , he put together the "Cosmic Consciousness Distance Learning Course", which was supposed to offer the opportunity to understand the universal laws in such a way that they can be used in one's own life and actions.

After his death, his wife Lao Russell (1904–1988) continued the University of Science and Philosophy, which they founded. This still exists today, but has lost its importance. The work and knowledge of Walter Russell, who was one of the most prominent artists and philosophers during his lifetime and was in contact with important intellectuals, was largely forgotten after his death and has only recently been rediscovered, especially in German-speaking countries. Russell's teaching contains a striking number of similarities with Viktor Schauberger's knowledge . Nikola Tesla considered him to be one of the greatest geniuses and is said to have advised him to put his knowledge in a safe for 1000 years, as mankind is not yet ready for it.

Walter Russell's philosophy

The core of his teachings is the principle of the Universal One as the source of all beings, from which our world of duality emerges. According to Russell, both poles of this duality of light-dark, compressed-expanded, hot-cold, negative-positive, charged-discharged etc. have their common origin in the universal one, which includes both. Therefore they are mutually dependent and keep each other in balance, which is therefore absolute in the universe as a whole. The (balanced rhythmic) exchange between two (opposing but equal) poles - Russell's definition of sexuality - is, according to Russell, the cause of all movement, and movement is the actual, therefore illusory essence of the entire material universe. Since our body also consists of movement and our sense organs can therefore naturally only perceive movement, it is not possible for us to perceive this structure of our universe based on our sensory perception. But if we know about the actual structure of the universe and the rules governing balanced exchange (giving versus giving back, golden rule ) (e.g. due to extrasensory enlightenment experiences, as Russell experienced and also admitted to many others) , we can get through appropriate action achieve anything. Russell saw it as his life's work to prove this thesis through the versatility and scope of his work. In his opinion, the simple principle of the Golden Rule applies, the effects and applications of which he specifically formulated for many subject areas, universal in physics , chemistry , music , interpersonal relationships, sexuality, astronomy , economics , politics , technology .
