Walter Sachs (born 1954 in Weimar ) is a German sculptor , graphic artist and painter .

Since 1981, after completing his studies at the Dresden University of Fine Arts with Günter Horlbeck , he has been working as a freelance artist in Weimar. He also teaches sculpture at the Weimar School of Painting and Drawing.

His works are in the possession of numerous public and private collections, but can also be found in public spaces. a. in Weimar, Erfurt , Gotha and Jena .

Sachs received several awards for his work. So he got u. a. 1989 the Wilhelm Höpfner Prize of the Winckelmann Society, 1993 the VEAG Art Prize , 1999 the Weimar Prize , Culture Prize of the City of Weimar, and in 2001 the travel grant to China from the Thuringian Ministry of Culture (TMWFK).

Sachs has organized a long series of exhibitions. In 2014 he discovered the Silexspitze from Weimar-Ehringsdorf .
