Weimar Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Weimar Prize is an award that the City of Weimar has been awarding since 1990. It is awarded to individuals or "several people involved in a work who have made a contribution to the cultural reputation of the city of Weimar." It can honor both an individual achievement and a lifetime achievement that has "a recognizable reference" to the city of Weimar. The prize is endowed with 5000 euros; furthermore, a certificate will be handed over by the mayor of Weimar. The culture committee of the City Council of Weimar decides on the winner based on the suggestions received; the winner is confirmed by the city council.
