Gerd Zimmermann (architect)

Gerd Zimmermann (born November 9, 1946 in Luckenwalde ) is a German architect and university professor .

Life

After finishing school, Zimmermann studied architecture in Weimar and received his doctorate in 1974. Since 1992, Zimmermann has been a professor of architecture in Weimar. Zimmermann was rector of the University of Architecture and Construction from 1992 to 1996 and, after the university was renamed, rector of the Bauhaus University Weimar from 1996 to 2000 ; he took over the office again in 2004. Architectural theory is one of his main research interests . From 1999 to 2001 Zimmermann was Vice President of the University Rectors' Conference . Since 2004 he has been a member of the Academy of Charitable Sciences in Erfurt .

Zimmermann is a member of the ZDF board of directors .
