Walter Salzmann (born May 19, 1936 in Visp ; † September 12, 2012 in Brig ) was a Swiss ice hockey striker . His grandson is Fabian Heldner .

Career

During his career, Walter Salzmann played for two clubs - the EHC Visp , with which he was promoted to the NLA in 1960, where he won the Swiss championship title in 1962 and was relegated from the NLA in 1972, and at HC Sion , where he acted as player-coach.

After his career as a player, he was temporarily a coach at EHC Visp and also President of EHC Visp, of which he later became honorary president.

Salzmann played internationally for Switzerland and took part in the 1964 Winter Olympics and the 1963 B World Championship .

Outside of sport, he built up the company Salzmann AG ied engineering. Politically, he was active as a councilor in Visp and in the Grand Council of the Canton of Valais .
