Walter Schäfer (pedagogue)
Walter Schäfer (* 1910 ; † 1984 ) was a German history teacher, reform pedagogue and headmaster of the Odenwald School .
Live and act
Walter Schäfer studied German and history up to his doctorate in 1936 with a dissertation on Adalbert Stifter at the Albertus University in Königsberg . From 1949 he taught at the Odenwald School . He participated in school planning and was headmaster of the Odenwald School from 1962 to 1972 before Gerold Becker . He was an honorary professor at the University of Heidelberg .
There have been reports of sexual abuse in school even during his time as headmaster, which he allegedly did not do anything about. In the final report of a 2010 study, however, his partial intervention against individual teachers is documented.
