Walter Schumann (Chief of Police)

Walter Schumann (born October 15, 1946 in Wyhl ) is a German police officer. From 1995 to 2011 he was police chief of the Merseburg and Halle (Saale) police departments , which were renamed as the newly formed Saxony-Anhalt South department from 2007 as part of the structural reform of the police in Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

Schumann joined the Federal Defense Administration V on May 17, 1982 as an employee. When Wehrbereichsverwaltung V, he served from 1982 to 1985 as the first chairman of the audit committee, after which he was from 1986 to 1991 as head of the Vocational Training Service in the branch office Sigmaringen operates the district recruiting office Ravensburg. From 1991 to 1993 he was in charge of the district military replacement office in Freiburg. He was appointed Vice President of the Halle Police Department in 1993 and stayed here until 1995. He then became the Police President of the Merseburg Police Department and, from 2001, the Police Director of the Halle Police Department.

In 2011 he retired. His successor is Christiane Bergmann , his predecessor was Dietmar Gebel .
