Walter Schuricht (born May 23, 1878 in Claussnitz ; † October 14, 1925 ) was a German engineer and automobile manufacturer.

Origin, education

Schuricht completed an engineering degree in Munich , which he completed around 1904/05. In 1905 he married his wife Anna Elisabeth (née Pressprich from Plauen ), with whom he had a daughter, Annaliese.

Life

Until 1914 Schuricht was a development and test engineer at Neckarsulm Motorwagen . In the First World War he served as a soldier. After its end, he began as an entrepreneur to convert military trucks into civilian trucks until he started his own automobile production in 1921. The Walter Schuricht automobile plant had its small factory in Pasing (now part of Munich). As early as 1923 he had to give up his independence when the Bavarian Automobile Plant took over the company. With a self-built Schuricht racing car, he took part in automobile races, including the Solitude race in 1923 . He disseminated his expertise by writing a few books that were published between 1907–1926, and by founding the South German Chauffeur School , where young men were trained in the practice and theory of driving a car.
