Walter Sperling (geographer)

Walter Sperling (born July 26, 1932 in Groß-Gerau ; † March 21, 2016 in Trier ) was a German geographer .

Life

After completing his dissertation in Frankfurt am Main in 1959, he taught as professor for geography didactics at the PH Neuwied , EWH Koblenz (now: University of Koblenz-Landau ) and the University of Trier ( retired in 1997). His main areas of work were geography and its didactics, media and textbook research, geographical names, especially toponomics and the history of geography.
