Walter Stierli

Walter Stierli (born February 13, 1948 , legal resident in Lucerne ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and football official .

Stierli was a founding member of “FC Luzern-Innerschweiz AG” and managed the stock corporation on a solid financial basis. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of his Kriens-based company “S & P Group AG” (formerly “Stierli + Partner AG”), which operates in the insurance industry.

In 1980, Stierli founded Club 200, a patrons' association for FC Luzern . In October 2005, Stierli was elected President of Fu. He received special media attention when he intervened in the Barrage game on June 13, 2009 against FC Lugano after throwing a petard against the referee and called on his own supporters to stop.

In April 2012, Stierli announced his resignation as president of FC Luzern at the end of the 2011/2012 season , a year earlier than planned. In May 2012 he was elected honorary president of the association. At the same time, Stierli also received the badge of honor from the city of Lucerne .

In October 2014, Stierli announced that he would be giving up his board member mandate at FCL-Holding at the end of 2014. Stierli stated that he was frustrated with the sporting and financial situation of the football club, whose new club philosophy he no longer wanted to support. Starting in 2015, an investor was sought for Stierli's share package of 25 percent. In mid-2016, after negotiations , the Chinese investor Yunfeng Gao decided not to take over the free block of shares from Stierli.
