Walter Thießen

Walter Thießen (born January 11, 1951 in Kaiserslautern ; † March 23, 2014 ) was a German insurance manager and former CEO of AMB Generali Holding AG .

Life

Thießen studied mathematics at the University of Karlsruhe from 1969 to 1973 and received his doctorate in 1976 at the Technical University of Graz . He then went to the Deutsche Herold Insurance Group in Bonn as a trainee , where he stayed until 1984. In 1985 he moved to AachenMünchener and two years later joined the management of AMB-Informatik (IT subsidiary of AMB Generali Holding AG). In 1993 he was appointed to the board of the Volksfürsorge insurance company. In 1996 he also became a board member of AMB Generali Holding AG and chairman of the management board of AMB-Informatik. In 2002 he became CEO of AMB Generali Holding AG. Since 2006 he has also been a member of the International Management Board of the parent company Assicurazioni Generali . On June 30, 2007, he resigned from his position as CEO. Since then, Walter Thießen has held various positions, including from spring 2008 as Senior Adviser to the German subsidiary of the British NM Rothschild & Sons .
