Walter Trapp (politician)

Walter Trapp (born November 2, 1920 in Hohenfelde , Lauenburg district , Pomerania ; † June 11, 2010 in Bad Wünnenberg , North Rhine-Westphalia ) was a German local politician .

Life

Trapp came from a farm near Hohenfelde. After finishing school, he completed training with the police. He took part in the Second World War and was taken prisoner of war. In 1947 he was released and settled in Wünnenberg in North Rhine-Westphalia.

There Trapp returned to the police force and also joined the CDU during this time . As a city councilor, he has taken on various tasks in the community over the years. In 1953 he was instrumental in founding the Wünnenberg tourist office. It was thanks to him that Wünnenberg was the first municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia to receive the title of climatic health resort , and he also worked to promote Wünnenberg to a Kneipp health resort . In this context, he was responsible for the local political decisions on the construction of the outdoor and indoor swimming pool, the establishment of the Kurhaus, the Aatals leisure and recreation park and numerous sports facilities. In 1983, on Trapp's initiative, a Protestant church was built in Wünnenberg.

In 1986 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his diverse commitment .

In 1989 Trapp resigned from all his offices.
