Walter Volgmann

Walter Volgmann (born April 16, 1893 in Jarmen ; † May 1, 1945 in Rostock ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and Lord Mayor of Rostock.

Life

Walter Volgmann's father Hermann Johann Daniel Volgmann was the site manager. After attending primary school and doing an apprenticeship, Walter Volgmann worked in various positions. In the First World War he did military service from 1916 to 1918. After the war he worked in government agencies before becoming a self-employed book auditor. He joined the NSDAP . In 1930 Volgmann became a member of the Rostock city council, and in 1932 he was unpaid city councilor. After the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933 he was appointed as mayor used 1935 he was mayor of the city . From 1932 Walter Volgmann was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Schwerin for the NSDAP.

Towards the end of the Second World War , Volgmann fled Rostock; however, it failed. On May 1, 1945 , he and his family committed suicide in the Barnstorf complex .
