Walter von Arx

Walter von Arx (born February 20, 1936 in Härkingen ) is a Swiss Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

He studied theology in Rome and was ordained a priest in Solothurn in 1962 . He then continued his studies in Freiburg im Üechtland until his doctorate in 1965. As Anton Hänggis's research assistant, he was closely connected to liturgical science and the beginning liturgical reform since his early years as a priest . With Hänggi he founded the liturgical institute of the Swiss Bishops' Conference and became its director after he moved to Zurich in 1973. In 1981 he moved to Fulda as professor for liturgical science . From 1989 to 1999 he taught as full professor of liturgical science at the University of Würzburg .
