Life

As the younger brother of the eppstein-Königstein gentleman Eberhard III. von Eppstein-Königstein he was assigned the role of secular substitute regent on the one hand and the small rule of Ortenberg on the other.

The Eppstein gentlemen had a very good school education for this time in the 15th century. It can be assumed that they could generally read and were able to speak the Latin language. It is reported about Walther that he studied in Heidelberg and Cologne.

Based on cellar invoices from 1445, it is known that Walther had exclusive clothing claims: He had fine fabrics delivered directly from Cologne and Trier, with which he not only had himself dressed, but also his four miners several times a year.

His grave is in the parish church in Ortenberg (Hessen) .
