Walther Blachetta

Walther Blachetta (born May 10, 1891 in Althammer, Pleß district ; † July 25, 1959 in Frankfurt am Main ; also Walter Blachetta , pseudonym Walter Brenner-Kruckenberg ) was a German writer , theater director and SS leader.

life and work

After his participation in the First World War , Blachetta taught as a primary school teacher. He also worked as an actor and theater director. He joined the Hitler Youth around 1927/28 and joined the NSDAP on December 1, 1931 , where he worked as the propaganda director of the Literature and Science Cell until 1933. At the end of 1933 he became an advisor in the training / press / propaganda department of the Reich Youth Leadership . In addition, from January 1933 to 1936 he was responsible for the areas of folk culture, folk song, Märkische Heimat, amateur games, board games, history and politics at the Reichssender Berlin . He then became editor in the Reich Press Office of the NSDAP . According to his own statements, by May 1943 he delivered political editorials to around 200 newspapers.

The trained painter dealt early with collecting games, about which he u. a. published several times. He started the Blachetta Games .

From 1933 to 1936 Blachetta published more than 35 music books and song sheets. He wrote more than 40 comedies , stage plays and amateur plays , some of which, like the Bunker Games (1940), saw more than 30 editions.

Some of his writings were placed on the list of literature to be sorted out after the end of the war in the Soviet occupation zone .
