Walther Degen

Walther Degen (* 1899 in Hamburg ; † 1995 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Degen, who last worked as chief inspector at the AOK Hamburg , joined the SPD in 1918 and was a member of it until the ban in 1933. After the Second World War he took part in the reconstruction of the SPD and in 1948 was initially deputy chairman and in the same year chairman of the Jarrestadt district . He held this office until 1964 and was then a member of the district board until 1966. He was instrumental in the design of the local SPD newspaper "Die Jarrestadt", which was published in October 1952. From 1949 to 1966 he was a member of the district assembly (until 1961: district committee) Hamburg-Nord . In addition, he was twice a member of parliament for a short time: on February 2, 1960, he replaced the late former police senator Lothar Danner and was a member of the parliament until the end of the 1961 electoral term. On October 9, 1965, he became a citizen for the late Georg Raloff , this time until 1966, when the legislative period also ended.
