Waltraud Deckelmann

Waltraud "Traudl" Deckelmann (born July 25, 1939 ) is a German dentist and Catholic women's functionary.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1958, Waltraud Deckelmann studied dentistry in Munich and Freiburg from 1958 to 1964. In 1964 she passed the state examination and received her license to practice medicine. From 1965 to 1969 she worked at the People's Dental Clinic in Basel. In 1970 she was promoted to Dr. med. dent. PhD and then worked as an employee and representative in private practices. From 1977 to 2002 she was a part-time specialist teacher for dental assistants at the vocational schools in Munich and Traunstein. She lives with her husband in Inzell .

She has been involved in the Catholic German Women's Association (KDFB) since the 1980s . From 1987 to 2001 she was district leader in the Diocesan Association of Munich and Freising of the KDFB and from 2002 to 2010 she was state chairwoman of the KDFB in Bavaria, the largest women's association in Bavaria with 220,000 members. In addition, until July 2010 she was the chairwoman of the educational center of the Bavarian State Association of the KDFB.

She is also the head of the Working Group of Catholic Women in Bavaria and a member of the board of Donum Vitae in Bavaria.

Honors

In November 2011, she was awarded the Medal of Merit Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Korbinians Medal of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising , which had already been promised to her, was not awarded to her because of her work at Donum Vitae.
