The Wanderer W 24 is a mid -range passenger car from the Wanderer brand with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder in - line engine and rear-wheel drive . The Auto Union presented him in 1937 as a successor to the model W 35 before. By 1940, the Auto Union plant in Siegmar near Chemnitz had built 22,488 Wanderer W 24s, 3,571 of which were four-door convertible sedans . This makes the model the most frequently built Wanderer car.
The side valve engine has 42 horsepower at 3500 min -1 and is the shortened by two cylinder embodiment of the W-23 -Sechszylinders. The rear wheels are driven via a four-speed gearbox with a center shift lever. Chassis and body of the W 24 also had the DKW "special class" with four-cylinder engine - two stroke - V-engine . The front wheels were suspended from double wishbones, the rear was the " floating axle " (rigid axle with high transverse leaf spring) from DKW . The wheelbase was 2.6 meters.

Due to the war, the production of Wanderer brand cars was discontinued in 1941 and was not resumed after the Second World War due to the liquidation of the "old" Auto Union .
