Wang Xiaoli belongs to the new generation of world-class players from the Middle Kingdom. In 2006 she won the Asian Junior Badminton Championship with Ma Jin . Three years later, both of them took bronze in the adults at the 2009 Badminton World Cup . She won the China Masters 2009 in mixed with Tao Jiaming , the German Open in doubles once again with Ma Jin. Both also won the Japan Open 2009, the French Open 2009, the Hong Kong Open 2009 and the Badminton Asian Championship 2009. At the Uber Cup 2010 , however, it was only enough for the runner-up title. There were also second places in the Malaysia Super Series 2010 . In 2011 she became world champion in women's doubles. At the 2012 Olympic Games , she and her partner Yu Yang were disqualified from the Games by the World Federation for match-fixing. In the last group game, the two clearly did not show the will to want to win the game, as they would have met supposedly weaker opponents if they were defeated in the subsequent knockout round. In 2013, Wang Xiaoli and her partner Yu Yang reached the final in the women's doubles of the Indonesia Open , which was lost in three sets to the Chinese pairing Cheng Shu and Bao Yixin .
