The Wangnitzsee (WgS) lies in the area of the municipality of Priepert in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Its size is 190 hectares. The lake is very indented with a few smaller islands. It has a west-east extension of about 2.6 kilometers and a width of up to 800 meters. To the northwest of the lake is the Kleine Wangnitzsee . The small and large Priepertsee adjoin to the south . The lake is traversed by the Havel on its western edge . Its 400 meter wide western part at OHW-km 75.4 is a so-called other inland waterway of the federal government, which belongs to the federal waterway Obere Havel-Wasserstraße (OHW); The Eberswalde Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible .
The Wangnitzsee offers a habitat for sea eagles and ospreys , otters , European pond turtles and kingfisher . Due to the shallow depth, the lake is breeding and spawning water for the pikeperch . Since it is closed to motor boat traffic, it offers water hikers good conditions.
