In the coat of arms of Asturias , a Spanish administrative unit , the golden cross of victory, adorned with precious stones, hovers in blue on the cross arm of which the large Greek letters Alpha and Omega hang. To the coat of arms inside a Latin inscription in gold is capital letters : "HOC SIGNO TUETUR PIUS, HOC SIGNO vincitur Inimicus" ( "By this sign the pious will be protected by this character, the enemy will be defeated").
The golden royal crown rests on the coat of arms .
