In the first golden field there is a silver castle with two blue windows and a blue gate, from which a blue armored arm swings a sword and fends off a red, red-tongued and red-armored lion : the second silver field is surrounded by a golden border with eight red flanchis and shows the holy oak of Gernika on earth with a brown trunk and green foliage crown, which covers a common silver cross , the third golden field is divided into silver and blue by a wave cut, has three green trees at the top and three narrow silver wave bars below . The fourth field is solid red. The coat of arms is surrounded on each side by an oak branch with four fruits.

Field four stands for Navarre , which intervened in 1982 against the use of its symbols in the Basque coat of arms.
