Wargolshausen

Wargolshausen is a district of Hollstadt in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld ( Bavaria ). The place is about twelve kilometers east of the district town of Bad Neustadt an der Saale .

geography

Wargolshausen is located on the Goldbach next to Junkershausen , Hendungen and Waltershausen. The Franconian Marienweg leads through Wargolshausen .

history

Wargolshausen was first mentioned in 1196. The first owners of Wargolshausen were the Counts of Wildberg . They left the place to the Counts of Henneberg , who sold it to the Würzburg Monastery in 1368 . The village of Wargolshausen was once a branch of the Bildhausen monastery . The place has always belonged as a local chaplaincy (now curate) to the parish of Wülfershausen, just like Junkershausen later.

Wargolshausen was an independent municipality until the regional reform in Bavaria. On January 1, 1978 Wargolshausen was incorporated into the Hollstadt community .

Culture and customs

Regular events

Wargolshausen is considered a carnival stronghold . The Rose Monday parade is the largest of its kind in the Rhön-Grabfeld district and the final highlight of the carnival night. There are also two ceremonial sessions in Wargolshausen.

Natural monuments

Wargolshausener Linde

The old linden tree on Friedhofstrasse is over 350 years old. According to Edgar Müller sen. it was planted on the occasion of the proclamation of the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. It is registered as a natural monument with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Rhön-Grabfeld district. In 2008 the trunk had a circumference of 6.67 meters at the point of its smallest diameter and a height of 6.85 meters.
