Warren Kiefer

Warren David Kiefer (also known as Lorenzo Sabatini ; * 1929 in Rochelle Park , New Jersey , † 1995 in Buenos Aires ) was an American author, film director and screenwriter .

Life

Kiefer graduated from the University of New Mexico . 1958 Random House published his first novel Pax , written together with Harry Middleton , under the pseudonym "Middleton Kiefer". Soon afterwards, Kiefer left families, jobs and homeland and went to Italy. Kiefer settled in Rome, married an Argentine woman and took as his stage name that based on the Italian mannerist Lorenzo Sabbatini. With this name he drew for a first film in collaboration with Michael Reeves , in which Donald Sutherland played his first film role. In 1968 and 1970 he made two more films; in addition, a script for Denys McCoy was written .

Then he turned back to literature. His second novel, The Lingala Code , appeared in 1972, The Pontius Pilate Papers in 1976 and The Kidnappers in the following year , which is set in Argentina, where Kiefer went with his wife and wrote several more works.
