The Wasgauhütte (also Schwanheimer Hütte ) is a refuge in the Palatinate Forest managed by the Schwanheim local association of the Palatinate Forest Association . It is located in the German part of the Wasgau in a south-westerly direction above Schwanheim and below the Kühhungerfelsen ( 422 m ). The hut was opened in 1969 and is located at an altitude of 324 m . It does not offer any overnight accommodation.
Access and walks
The shortest access is from Schwanheim via the Im-Schlund-Tal. From Hauenstein the hut can be reached through the Queichtal or on the mountain over the Kreuzelfelsen, Weimersberg , Backelstein and Hühnerstein . The hut can also be easily hiked from the surrounding villages of Darstein and Oberschlettenbach . The neighboring huts of the Palatinate Forest Association are the hiking home "Dicke Eiche" and the Drachenfelshütte . Other nearby hiking huts are the Paddelweiher Hut , the Cramerhaus and the Bärenbrunnerhof .
