The Washington Escarpment is a large, west-facing step in Queen Elizabeth Land, West Antarctica . It extends in the Neptune Range of the Pensacola Mountains over a distance of 80 km and represents the origin of a series of mountain ridges running to the west.
The United States Geological Survey mapped the terrain using surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1956 and 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1965 after the University of Washington , from which many members of a survey team came from between 1963 and carried out surveys of the Neptune Range in 1964.
