Wasi Zafar

Muhammad Wasi Zafar ( Urdu محمد وصی ظفر; Born January 12, 1949 in Multan , Punjab , Pakistan ) is a Pakistani politician .

Life

After graduating from high school, Zafar studied law and took up a position as a lawyer after being admitted to the bar . He was elected member of the National Assembly as a candidate of the Muslim League PML-Q (Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid-e-Azam ) . As the successor to Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri , he was appointed Minister of Justice in the cabinet of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on September 2, 2004 and held this ministerial office until August 27, 2007, whereupon Zahid Hamid took his place.

After he had insulted a journalist during a live broadcast on the television station Geo News during the election campaign for the February 2008 elections , the PML-Q withdrew his support. He then ran as a non-party candidate , but missed re-entry into the National Assembly.
