The moated castle Blankenau is an abandoned moated castle at the confluence of the Bahrebach in the Chemnitz in the district Borna of the city of Chemnitz in Saxony .

The double walled castle was built by the lords of Blankenau, former lords of Gersdorf (near Leisnig), and was mentioned in 1269 as their fortified manor. 1307, the castle was in the war between the Wettin and Habsburg I. King Albrecht destroyed. In 1338 the Blankenau property was sold to the Benedictine monastery in Chemnitz . The rule of Blankenau came with this after the Reformation to the Electoral Saxon office of Chemnitz .
