Water soup (dish)
Water soups is a general generic term for soups that are made from water and not from broths , stocks or milk .
For the preparation, starchy products such as rice , oat flakes , pearl barley or semolina are boiled in water to make a thin paste . Depending on the recipe, this is seasoned with salt and spices or sweetened with sugar and honey . Typical deposits are dried fruits ( raisins , prunes ) and fresh herbs .
Bread soup is also cooked as water soup . The soup is often prepared with cream and eggs . Instead of bread, the use of rolls and rusks is also common.
As a simple water soup, there is flour soup , also known as stewed soup or stewed soup , in various regional kitchens.
Colloquially, the word water soup is used disparagingly for clear soups and vegetable soups without meat.
