The Tōkyō-to suidō-kyoku ( Japanese 東京 都 水道 局 ; English Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Waterworks ), the water supply office of the Tokyo prefecture , is a public company of the Japanese prefecture Tokyo , which takes over the water supply of large parts of the prefecture, namely in the 23 districts ( Tokyo ) and in 26 cities in the Tama area (all municipalities except Musashino , Akishima , Hamura and Hinohara ). In addition to the traffic office and the sewage office , the water office is one of three independently organized companies of the Tokyo Prefectural Administration that are not subordinate to a department of the administration . It has its headquarters in the main building No. 2 of the prefecture administration (English Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 2 ) in the Shinjuku district .

In fiscal and fiscal year 2012, the suidō-kyoku had sales of around 327 billion yen and a profit of 29 billion yen. As of April 1, 2013, it had 3,865 employees.

The water for Tokyo comes mainly from surface water from the Tonegawa - Arakawa (over three quarters) and Tamagawa (about one fifth) river systems. The latter also includes the Ogōchi ( Okutama Lake ), Murayama (upper and lower; Tama Lake ) and Yamaguchi ( Sayama Lake ) reservoirs operated by the Water Authority itself , the latter both lying on both sides of the prefectural border between Tokyo and Saitama and not directly at the Tamagawa, but are fed from water that is taken from the Tamagawa in the city of Hamura.

The water authority is the majority shareholder of the KK PUC ( 株式会社 PUC , English Public Utility Services Center Co., Ltd. ), which is responsible, among other things, for collecting water taxes, the Tōkyō suidō service KK ( 東京 水道 サ ー ビ ス 株式会社 , engl. today "TSS Tokyo Water Co., Ltd.", formerly translated as "Tokyo Suido Services Co., Ltd."), the various orders from the water authority z. B. for the construction and maintenance of water pipes, and thus indirectly also the Tōkyō suidō international KK ( 東京 水道 イ ン タ ー ナ シ ョ ナ ル 株式会社 , English Tokyo Waterworks International Co., Ltd. ), founded in 2012 , which is to operate in foreign markets.
