Waterworks on the Goldstein (2012)

The waterworks on the Goldstein in the Hessian city of Bad Nauheim ( Wetteraukreis ) is a listed building that serves as an observation tower . It has a total height of around 21 meters and offers a viewing platform at around 14 meters on the top level under the hipped roof.

The waterworks was built in 1907 to cover the city's increasing groundwater consumption. In order to give the functional building a more attractive design, it was integrated into an observation tower that resembles a defense tower .

At the same time, the slope sloping down towards the city up to the area of the station was designed as a park . In the 1930s, a shooting range designed by August Metzger was built there, but it has not been preserved in its original form.

The complex closes off an ensemble of farm buildings erected at the beginning of the 20th century east of the railroad tracks to the north, which is a listed building as the entire Am Goldstein complex .
