The Bad Nauheim train station is located in the same city at kilometer 161.9 of the Main-Weser Railway .

history

With the opening of the section between Butzbach and Friedberg on November 9, 1850, the station went into operation. The original high-rise buildings came from Julius Eugen Ruhl , but were replaced by new buildings in 1911–1913. In the course of a general renovation on the occasion of the State Garden Show , which took place in Bad Nauheim in 2010, the platform height was raised to 76 cm, the access was designed to be handicapped accessible , guide strips for the visually impaired were installed and the station overall was given a friendlier appearance.

Railway systems

Bad Nauheim train station has a house platform and an island platform, so a total of three platform edges. The traffic is mainly handled on tracks 1 (towards Friedberg) and 2 (towards Gießen ). As planned, track 3 is only used by a very few trains - sometimes the track is approached in the event of delays by trains in the direction of Gießen in order to give priority to a following train on track 2. From 8:30 p.m., access to the platforms is only possible via the night exit, as the station concourse will be closed at this time. The tracks can be reached via a platform underpass that runs between the reception building and a park-and-ride car park.

In addition, the Butzbach-Licher Eisenbahn (BLE) station, Bad Nauheim Nord (route km 10.6) is located on the side of the track system opposite the station building . From here tourist traffic with historical train sets takes place through the Eisenbahnfreunde Wetterau to Munzenberg . There is a track connection to the former state railway (track 5). As a special feature, the Butzbach-Licher Railway runs through the park-and-ride car park created for the DB train station. Bad Nauheim Nord can be reached on the city side via a second pedestrian tunnel, which passes under the tracks of the DB train station - but does not provide a connection there. This tunnel also provides access to the Goldsteinpark area.

In June 2013, the platform and the reception building in Bad Nauheim Nord served as the filming location for the crime scene: Born in Pain .

Buildings

The station building and the other high-rise buildings of the station are today mostly cultural monuments according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act .

Reception building

The current station building was built between 1911 and 1913 in neoclassical forms based on designs by Armin Wegner . The facade bears both the Prussian and the Hessian coat of arms , as Bad Nauheim belonged to the Grand Duchy of Hesse, but the train station and Main-Weser Railway were operated by the Prussian State Railway. There are several RMV ticket machines and a machine for long-distance tickets from Deutsche Bahn in the building. There is also a bookshop and bakery in the train station.

Immediately in front of the building is the motif of the planet Saturn as part of the local planetary hiking trail - a sphere embedded in the ground, which is surrounded by two rings.

Prince's pavilion

There is a princely pavilion south of the reception building . It comes from the renovation phase of the station in 1911–1913. The building has a pagoda-like roof. It stands in the axis of Lessingstrasse, clearly separated from the public reception building. There is an open hall on the platform side. After it was no longer used, it was now used by the Deutsche Bundespost , now the Diakonie .

traffic

Historical

Before the First World War , Bad Nauheim was the starting point of a connection known as the “ Bäderbahn ”, which connected the seaside resorts of Bad Nauheim, Bad Homburg and Wiesbaden and was also used by express trains.

For the 2010 State Horticultural Show, individual S-Bahn lines on the S6 line were extended from Friedberg station to Bad Nauheim.

The pair of Eurocity trains EC 112/113 Siegen – Klagenfurt, which runs once a day in each direction, was shortened to the previous train route to Frankfurt after two years after the 2011/2012 timetable change on December 11, 2011 due to a lack of passengers.

Current

All trains on the regional train connection Hanau- Friedberg-Gießen stop in Bad Nauheim in the 2018 timetable . The Mittelhessen-Express and individual regional express trains on the Frankfurt Hbf – Marburg connection also stop in Bad Nauheim. In the morning and early evening, the RE-Sprinter of the Main-Sieg-Express stops in place of the neighboring Friedberg train station in Bad Nauheim and thus offers commuters a fast connection to and from Frankfurt. All other regional express trains on the routes Frankfurt Hbf – Siegen Hbf and Frankfurt Hbf – Kassel Hbf (Main-Weser-Express) as well as long-distance trains do not stop in Bad Nauheim.

The End

Individual commuter train multiple units of the DB Class 423 of the line S6 to Friedberg drive to Apply as deadhead, without passengers, to Bad Nauheim in a side track when the funds earmarked for the S-Bahn tracks are occupied in Friedberg.

The Bad Nauheim city bus lines and other connections to Friedberg , Butzbach and Ober-Mörlen that go beyond the city limits converge at the bus station located directly in front of the station building .
