Railway stations in Hessen |
The Butzbach station is a train station in the Hessian town of Butzbach on the Main-Weser Railway . In the past, the train station was also the starting point for the Butzbach-Licher railway leading to Lich and Grünberg .
history
With the opening of the Butzbach– Friedberg section of the Main-Weser Railway on November 9, 1850, the station went into operation.
On March 28, 1904, the Butzbach-Licher Railway was opened. This had its own train station, the Butzbach West train station right next to the state train station . From here the trains went via Butzbach Ost, where the administration and the operating center of the Hessian State Railway are today , and Griedel to Lich Süd near the Gießen – Gelnhausen railway line ( Lahn-Kinzig-Bahn ). It was not until August 1, 1909 that it continued to Grünberg, where it was possible to transfer to the Giessen – Fulda state railway ( Vogelsbergbahn ). Another railway line branched off in Griedel through the Wetterertal to Bad Nauheim Nord; it was open to traffic from April 2, 1910. The last stretch from Butzbach Ost to Oberkleen in the Prussian district of Wetzlar was completed on June 1, 1910. On May 27, 1961, passenger and part of the freight traffic on the main line Butzbach – Lich ended. The last passenger traffic on the rail between Butzbach and Bad Nauheim Nord ended on May 31, 1975.
The station building was demolished in July 2018.
business
train
The Butzbacher Bahnhof is no longer a railway junction since the suspension of passenger traffic on the Butzbach-Licher Railway . Nevertheless, some regional trains still stop in Butzbach today (2018) . The most important is the Mittelhessen-Express , which runs from Frankfurt Hbf via Friedberg and Butzbach to Gießen . There the train is separated: the front part of the train continues via Marburg to Treysa , while the rear part of the train changes direction and continues via Wetzlar to Dillenburg . The regional train from Hanau / Friedberg via Bad Nauheim , Butzbach, Lang-Göns and Großen-Linden to Gießen is also important. During the rush hour , the individual Regional Express trains that run from Frankfurt via Gießen to Marburg also stop in Butzbach. Long-distance trains run through the station without stopping.
Only the house platform in the direction of Gießen (track 1) is barrier-free , as it is connected to the station forecourt via a ramp . In 2009 the station was equipped with electronic passenger information systems on the platforms.
