Wassyl Marotschko

Wassyl Iwanowytsch Marotschko ( Ukrainian Василь Іванович Марочко , scientific transliteration Vasylʹ Ivanovyč Maročko ; born February 5, 1956 in Welyka Tschernihiwka , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian historian.

Life

Vasyl Marotschko arrived in the village Welyka Tschernihiwka ( Велика Чернігівка ) in Rajon Ovruch the Ukrainian Oblast Zhytomyr born and graduated in 1981 from the Faculty of History of the State Pedagogical Institute in Kiev. M. Gorky . From 1981 to 1995 he was a PhD student, junior researcher, researcher and senior researcher at the Institute of History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NAS). After receiving his doctorate in history in 1995, he was a senior researcher at the Institute for the History of Ukraine in the 1920s - 1930s until 2002. From 2002 to 2007 he headed the Center for Research into the Genocide of the Ukrainian People of the Institute for the History of Ukraine of the NAS. Between 2008 and 2015 he was chairman of the Association of Holodomor Researchers in Ukraine. He has published numerous works on the Holodomor and dozens of monographs on historical topics from the 1920s and 1930s.
