Vasyl Oleksandrowytsch Suchomlynskyj (born September 28, 1918 in Omelnyk , Cherson Governorate , Russian Empire , † September 2, 1970 in Pavlysch , Ukrainian SSR ) was a Ukrainian - Soviet educator, journalist, writer and poet.

Wassyl Suchomlynskyj defended his dissertation in 1955 on the subject of "School director, head of the educational process". In 1957 he became a member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the RSFSR and in 1968 he became a corresponding member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences . Suchomlynskyj wrote a total of 48 books, over 600 articles and 1,500 children's fairy tales and short stories.

Honors

In 1958 Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi was appointed a teacher of the USSR , and in 1968 he received the title of Hero of Socialist Labor . The Ukrainian National Bank issued a two hryvnia commemorative coin with his portrait on his 85th birthday in 2003 . The Ministry of Education of Ukraine awards him a medal for outstanding teachers in his honor.
