Wat's Pig is a British plasticine animated short directed by Peter Lord from 1996.

action

During the Middle Ages: A robber steals one of the two king's sons from the manger in the castle, but loses the infant during the chase, which is found by a pig.

Years later, one son became king and the other a simple farmer who lives with his pig. The farmer has to pay taxes to the king and when the king is threatened by the king of the neighboring state, the farmer goes to war for him as a soldier. The battle is lost and the farmer returns to the castle alone with the destroyed army flag. Here he sees that his pig has meanwhile been transported to the castle's kitchen and sneaks into the castle to save it. The pigsty is secured with a lock and the farmer searches the king's room for the key. When the king appears, there is a tussle between the two men, which the mother mediates: She reveals to both of them that they are brothers.

The king's admission comes in handy, as the king of the neighboring kingdom is moving towards the castle with his army. He gives his brother the king's insignia and secretly sneaks out of the castle in his brother's peasant clothes. He experiences the fight for the castle in his brother's farmer's cottage and falls asleep peacefully. The next morning the house is populated by his brother, mother and the pig. The farmer puts a hoe in his brother's hand and tells him to work. The former king, whose castle is now completely devastated, stands in front of the door, undecided until it starts to rain.

Awards

Wat's Pig was nominated in 1997 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ", but could not prevail against Quest .
