The Waterboat Point is the extreme western reaches a low peninsula between the Paradise Harbor in the southwest and the Andvord Bay in the northeast, on the Danco Coast to the west of the Antarctic Graham Lands . It is the location of the Chilean González Videla Antarctic Station . It is separated from Lemaire Island in the west, 1.1 km away, by the Aguirre Passage . The cape becomes an island when the tide is high .
It was roughly mapped in 1898 during the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) under the direction of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery . It is named after a temporary dwelling in which the two British geologists Thomas Wyatt Bagshawe (1901–1976) and Maxime Charles Lester (1891–1957) as part of the British Imperial Antarctic Expedition (1920–1922) under the direction of John Lachlan Copes ( 1893–1947) lived between January 1921 and January 1922 and carried out geodetic surveying work in the area.
