The Watson rock is a prominent rock on the island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It is located at the northern end of Fairchild Beach in the east of the island.

It is named after the ship's carpenter George Watson, one of the survivors of the whaling ship Trinity , which sank near Elephant Spit on October 17, 1880 , and who shortly afterwards suffered hypothermia as a result of a storm while searching for food together with Bernard Kelly, another survivor of the shipwreck Stephenson Glacier died and is buried in a common grave with him on Skua Beach .
